Do I Need to Work Recovery?
Two scriptures describe people who realize that as natural persons, they are not capable of dealing with life as it is.
Psalms 40:12, “Problems far too big for me to solve are piled higher than my head. Meanwhile my sins, too many to count, have caught up with me and I am ashamed to look up.” In other words, overwhelmed with problems and in despair over not knowing what to do.
Romans 7:15, “For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.” This is about our lack of power to avoid doing those things we know we should not be doing.
If not now, when? One of the founders of AA wrote that “few people will sincerely try to [recover] unless they have hit bottom.” But, there is hope because your present circumstances can be your "bottom." You need not lose everything. Hope lies in success through Jesus Christ, through connecting to the Spirit of God. Broken lives can be rebuilt starting now.
Why 6:33? When a person is discharged from a drug/alcohol treatment center, he faces the challenge of successfully living a sober life in the real world. Early sobriety can easily be derailed by immediately returning to one’s former environment without a well-planned transition.
At 6:33 we stress residence in one place - not frequently changing places - and a multi-faceted Christian recovery process, in a personalized, supportive environment for true recovery, not just abstinence. Check out the tabs on the website to better understand what 6:33 is about. We encourage you to contact us with any questions.
